Three local Norfolk-Southern rail crossings are getting safety upgrades by order of the PUCO. The Bayard and Haiti Road crossings in Columbiana County and the Siefert Lewis Road crossing in Hubbard Township are getting flashing lights and gates. They check all 500 public crossings in the state, once a year. Only about 50% of the state's 5800 public rail crossings have warning lights or gates. The work will be done in nine months.
The three Norfolk Southern crossings being improved:
Hubbard Township, Trumbull Co: Siefert Lewis Rd between Rt 304 and I-80.
West Township, Columbiana Co: Bayard Road just north of Rt 30.
Washington Township, Columbiana Co: Haiti Road just east of Salineville.
